A rapid sketch in ink and grey wash: a horse stands in profile, its head lowered to the ground and its long neck stretched, the body left almost as bare paper while the legs, mane and tail are drawn in thick black lines with an almost dry brush. At the right a few fence posts are marked by vertical strokes; at the left a leaning form suggests a pole or a tool. The background is a pale grey wash with vertical brushmarks. There is no additional detail: the whole drawing is a notation of movement, made in one go.
