A hill landscape built on a single large ridge rising from left to right, clothed in golden yellow and olive green. Over and below it are scattered bushes and small trees painted in dark green and brown, like round patches marking the slope. The background is a grey-green crest, and the sky, nearly half the canvas, is a washed bluish-white surface with faint traces of cloud. The foreground is a low brown strip. The colour is clear and simple — yellow, green, white — and the brushwork is short, applied in thin layers; the landscape seems noted quickly, in the even light of late summer.
