A stand of willows crosses the canvas horizontally, their crowns opening into broad slabs of olive, grey-green and cream, leaning slightly to the right; slender trunks and black branches cross them vertically. Beneath, a few white buildings can be made out, reduced to rectangular patches, and a dark line of fencing. At the right the bank rises into a reddish-brown mass; at the left the ground descends into a bluish zone. The sky is a smooth beige-grey surface with a few blue strokes. The foreground is an almost empty yellow-ochre strip.
