A pale cream-white road descends from the upper right towards the bottom edge, cutting through ground churned with bushes and boulders painted in olive green, blue-grey, brown and brick red in short overlapping strokes. At the left the bank rises into a dense mass of vegetation; in the distance the hills fade into blue and violet. The sky fills almost half the canvas as a silvery white surface furrowed by salmon-pink clouds applied in long horizontal strokes. The light falls diffusely from above; the road is the only continuous form in a landscape otherwise fragmented into patches.
