Haystacks in the Mountains

A mountain homestead seen frontally: in the foreground four pointed haystacks, their wooden supports protruding at the top, line up on a pink-grey meadow. Behind them stand two buildings — a house with a porch and blue windows at the left, and a barn with a straight roof at the right. The background is a dense fir wood painted in dark green and blue, rising towards a bluish mountain whose crest is covered in snow; the sky is a thin white-pink band. The strokes are short and vertical in the firs, broader in the meadow; the whole colour scheme is cool, and the haystacks — warm ochre — are the only accent that brings light into the foreground.
