Still Life with Flowers

A cylindrical clay pot in yellow ochre stands on a white plinth, and out of it opens a plant with large leaves in crimson, orange and rust, set on thin stems that fan out across the whole width of the canvas. The background is a blue drape in broad folds, with two vertical dark blue bands framing the composition like two pillars; between them the light falls obliquely and leaves a white-blue streak. At the right a yellow-ochre cloth hangs in folds, with clusters of white forms on it. The contrast is simple and strong: warm, burning leaves on cold blue. Signed lower right.
Title from the auction catalogue · Painted in the studio on Ion Creangă Street 15, Ploiești — the still lifes and flower pieces from 1984 onwards were made there. Established by the family, August 2026.
