A rounded white mass rises from the centre of the canvas like a huge boulder or a cloud caught in the ground; inside it, strokes of golden yellow and crimson pink turn like a warm core. Below, the ground is a dark grey-green and black zone with barely distinct rounded forms. At the right the hills spread in ochre and brown, cut by a deep blue line; above, the sky is a pressed dark blue surface with horizontal strokes. The paint is very thick and worked circularly with the knife; the landscape is recognisable only through its structure — mass, ground, sky — not through detail.

The family’s records list it as “Fantasmă”, at about 55 × 69 cm — the figures are reversed. The confirmed dimensions are 59 × 42 cm.
