Phantasm of the house with a hayloft

Fantasma casei cu fânar

An old house stands at the centre, its porch in shadow, with a double wooden door and a triangular gable decorated with fretwork; beside it, to the right, extends a long hayloft with a metal roof and plank walls through which the light shows. Above, two tall trees spread their crowns across the whole upper register, painted in green, ochre, brick red and cream in short strokes that let the bluish sky slip through. The foreground is a yellow-green yard with tall grass. The colour is warmer than in the other works of 2002 — this is autumn foliage — and the house, though dilapidated, is drawn with care for every detail of its woodwork.
