A row of wooden barns and stables lines up in the middle plane, with long metal roofs and plank walls through which the darkness inside shows; a few small white houses appear at the left. Behind, the hill rises as a blue-green mass with a clump of trees drawn along its crest, and the sky, filling more than half the canvas, is a white-grey surface furrowed by heavy horizontal clouds. The foreground is bare ground in ochre and brick pink with bright red accents. The colour is cooler and more muted than in the other works of the series — this is November light, without sun.
